What happened during the 2019-2020 NBA season? Why do you need a basketball wallpaper to help mend your broken heart?
When the NBA season was abruptly suspended, the standings were very interesting. Everyone was looking forward to super competitive playoffs. There were a few teams that didn’t live up to the expectations and there were some that absolutely exceeded them.
Western conference standings
First of all, for the first time in what seems like forever, the Golden State Warriors were the last seed in the Western Conference and were going to miss the playoffs. LeBron James, on the other hand, was holding the number one spot in the West with his Los Angeles Lakers. It seemed like the Western Conference finals were going to be a battle of LA between the Lakers and the Clippers. There were a few surprises in the West, too. The Oklahoma City Thunder were the underdogs, but managed to secure the 5th seed. Fan favorites like Damian Lillard’s Portland Trail Blazers and Houston Rockets’ dynamic duo of James Harden and Russell Westbrook, however, didn’t manage to meet expectations.
The NBA is in talks to resume the season and have all of their games played in Disney World in Orlando
Eastern Conference standings
There was plenty of drama in the East as well. While everyone was expecting Giannis Antetokounmpo and his Milwaukee Bucks to return stronger then ever (which they did), there were some other surprises. The Toronto Raptors were the ones who won the Eastern Conference finals against the Bucks last year. But that was back when Kawhi Leonard was still a part of the team. No one was expecting the Raptors to be the number 2 seed this year, however. Another surprise was the Miami Heat, currently standing at tthe number 4 spot, led by Jimmy Butler. There are, of course, some underperforming teams. For example, the Philadelphia 76ers seem to be playing worse than last year. And, although they are mostly undefeated at home, their away record is terrible. Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons are not playing well together and the highest paid player on the team, Tobias Harris, has not been able to step up. The Brooklyn Nets are somewhere in the middle. No one had big expectations for them, since Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving were injured, but they will still manage to make the playoffs.
Adam Silver and the NBPA are still discussing the format in which the rest of the season is going to play out
