#Root Care

The roots of the orchid are very important when it comes to the plant’s nutrition. You may have noticed that orchids come in transparent pots. This is not just a random coincidence. Orchid roots need to have access to natural sunlight. That is exactly why we recommend having your orchids placed in transparent pots all the time.

#Don’t Move It Around

Just like some people don’t like change, this plant also isn’t a fan of it. Even though it stays in its pot, orchids really don’t like getting moved around, as they tend to get used to their spot and how much light they receive in it. By moving it around often you will stop the plant’s growth. If your orchid is blooming in the spot it is now, then there is no need to move it around.

#Proper Lighting

As we mentioned, light is very important for this plant. In order for an orchid to thrive and grow, it needs to be put in a place where it gets enough light. Most orchid varieties love bright light conditions, however they don’t enjoy being put in direct sunlight. If your orchid is in a dim confident, you may need to invest in a grow light in order to have blooming orchids.

#Watering Schedule

Another thing orchids are particular about is their watering schedule. For example, it’s best to water them only after their “soil” has completely dried out. This usually takes from 10 to 12 days. Whereas for blooming orchids, you generally need to water them once a month, however this may vary depending on the variety and age of the flower. In general, before the flower blooms it needs more water, and then it needs less. It’s also good to water them in a little bowl and throw out any excess water the flower leaves behind. Let it suck the water from the roots up.

#Temperature Changes

Orchids don’t do well with severe temperature changes. Since they do not tolerate sharp drops in the temperature, it is best to keep them in rooms where the temperature difference between the day and the night is no more than four to six degrees. During the warmer seasons, you can look after them on the terrace, however during the cold months these flowers need to stay close to a heat source. But make sure to not have them too near to the heating device or have its flow directly towards them as they will burn.

#Soil

All flowers do better when fertilized properly. However, the orchid is much more pretentious and needy when it comes to soil enrichment. Fertilizers such as phosphorus and khalifa are the most suitable for this flower. They will help to speed up the flowering process and strengthen the plant. Make sure to never use nitrogen based fertilizers when it comes to orchids.
