Tips and Tricks
Here are some helpful tips and tricks to make this cooking experience as easy and pleasant as possible! Here are all the strawberry shortcake secrets you need.
Try these helpful tips and tricks
Measure your ingredients carefully.
Measuring your gluten-free flour by weight is particularly important when making any sort of pastry. Many of the other ingredients, like baking powder, baking soda, and salt, are too light to accurately measure by weight, so teaspoons are fine.
Change up the fruits.
If you don’t enjoy strawberries, or you’re allergic, feel free to use any other kinds of fresh fruit that are in season. That’s the great part of this recipe, you can customize it any way you enjoy.
Whipping your own cream.
In a large, clean bowl, place the chilled cream. Beat on medium-low speed with a hand mixer or in a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment until soft peaks form. Add two tablespoons of confectioners’ sugar and continue to beat until stiff peaks form. Keep the mixer speed on medium-low in order to create a much more stable whipped cream.
Storage.
The gluten-free strawberry shortcakes keep well if they are kept in a closed container and in the refrigerator. They will be good for around three to four days.
Keep your ingredients cold.
As with all pastries, these biscuits rely on cold ingredients. Use cold chunks of chopped strawberries. And, of course, the whipped cream should be kept cold.
You can swap out the butter.
You can use avocado oil, melted and cooled coconut oil, or your oil of choice in this recipe to butter or oil up the pans.
Make some strawberry syrup.
If you want to add a cool touch to this strawberry shortcake, you can drizzle them with some syrup. Remove the stems from the strawberries, wash and slice them into a bowl. Mash the strawberries with the back of a fork to release juices. Cover and refrigerate until ready for use. Drizzle the syrup on top of the cake.
